Housing Needs Assessment for City of Medicine Hat
he City of Medicine Hat is undertaking a Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) to guide long-term, evidence-based housing planning. The assessment will identify current and future housing needs, gaps, and trends, supporting informed decision-making around housing development and infrastructure priorities.
Led in partnership with the Rural Development Network (RDN), the project includes data analysis on income levels, core housing needs, vacancy rates, rental trends, and more. City staff will contribute by analyzing local policies, homelessness, labour market impacts, and other community-specific factors influencing housing supply and demand. The HNA will serve as a foundational tool for strategic housing and infrastructure planning.
